Hospital Workers victory!
This morning union members are celebrating their second victory in 24 hours.
Hospital workers have just heard that Spotless were finally willing to sign a letter of intent promising to pass on the same terms and conditions that have been negotiated with the DHBs. (and other contractors in public hospitals).
The win comes hot on the heels of last night's ruling in the Employment Court that the lockout by Spotless was illegal.
Union members are heading back to work today for the first time in over a week and a year of negotiations may have finally come to a close for nearly 3000 hospitals members.
With Spotless willing to sign on to the same national deal, all hospital service workers can look forward to seeing a settlement that will finally mean we have poverty wages out of our hospitals and Healthy Pay for Healthy Hospitals.
The Employment Court will soon determine how much money Spotless has to return to members. In the mean time, these workers remain unpaid and your donations will mean they can buy food for their families this week.
Please consider making a contribution if you haven't already so that these staunch members can stay strong until the money from Spotless comes through.
A heartfelt thanks from the members to all of you who have played a part in keeping their spirits high. The support has been overwhelming.
